How do I turn off unused apps (for iOS) to save data?
Updated 6 days ago
By following these steps, you can ensure only the apps you need use data while traveling. This will help you save your data and extend your battery life.
Close unused apps
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (iPhone X or later) or double-click the "Home" button (iPhone 8 or earlier).
Find the apps you want to close by swiping left or right.
Swipe up on the app preview to close it.
Turn off background app refresh
Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Background App Refresh".
You can turn it off completely or choose individual apps. You can also choose the ‘Wi-Fi’ option, so your phone only refreshes apps when on a Wi-Fi connection.
Turn off cellular data for certain apps
Go to "Settings" > "Mobile Data or Cellular".
Scroll down and toggle off the apps you don't want to use "Mobile Data/Cellular Data".
Stop automatic downloads
Go to "Settings" > "App Store".
Toggle off "Apps Downloads", "App Updates", and "Automatic Downloads".
